Comment: A message to the players of Doncaster Rovers

To the players of Doncaster Rovers - the very least you can do in these final six games is stick your chests out and show some fight and pride in the badge.

You should not be in this position and it’s nothing short of a travesty you are where you are in the League One table.

For three different managers this season, you have underperformed both individually and collectively.

You’re in the midst of one of the worst runs of form in this club’s 137-year history and that should be eating away at you like it is the supporters.

But all hope is not yet completely lost. You have to believe that survival is still possible.

You’re not entirely to blame for this. The whole club has to take collective responsibility for the position it now finds itself in.

However, this is not a time for shirking responsibility or passing the buck.

And it is YOU that still has the chance of dragging Doncaster Rovers out of this horrible mess - and saving us all the pain of a third relegation in five seasons.

That display at Rochdale last weekend was all that everyone asks of you. To show some fight, some spirit, some gumption.

That level of commitment ought to be a gimme every time you cross the white line.

But for six more games - wherever your individual futures might lie beyond this season - all the Rovers fans want from you is to wear their colours with pride and do everything in your power to try and rescue this wretched campaign.

If you go down from here, make sure you go down fighting. That’s the least you owe people.

And don’t give up until it’s mathematically impossible. Anyone who has ever followed Rovers knows all too well that anything is possible.

Good luck.
