Clipex to host first ever UK on-farm demo day in Doncaster

Clipex is set to host the first ever UK on-farm demo day in Doncaster this month

Clipex, the agricultural fencing and livestock handling brand, will host its first-ever UK On-Farm Demo Day on Friday, May 22, welcoming farmers to a free open day at a working farm in Doncaster

.The event will give farmers the opportunity to see Clipex sheep handling and cattle management equipment operating in a real farm environment, alongside practical demonstrations of EID (Electronic Identification) systems and livestock data management.

The Demo Day will be hosted by local farmers Tom and Ruby Hill, with gates opening at 10am and the event running until 3pm. Attendance is free for all farmers.

The centrepiece of the day will be a series of live demonstrations of the Clipex sheep handler, taking place at 10.30am, noon and 1.30pm.

These sessions will showcase the equipment working with live sheep in a practical handling system.

A Clipex cattle crush will also be on site and available to view throughout the day.

Alongside the handling demonstrations, there will be a strong focus on EID for cattle and on-farm data management, reflecting the growing importance of traceability, compliance, and performance monitoring in modern livestock systems.

An independent expert in RFID software and weighing systems — and a Nuffield Farming Scholarship holder — will be on site throughout the day, offering practical demonstrations and advice.

Farmers will be able to explore how to capture, interpret, and use livestock data to improve decision-making, efficiency, and herd performance.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day, including burgers sourced from a local butcher. All attendees will also be entered into an exclusive prize draw to win a £300 Clipex voucher for animal handling products, with the winner announced the following week.

The timing of the Demo Day follows closely after the latest round of the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) grants, which are due to close in the week prior to the event.

Clipex is encouraging farmers to take full advantage of the available grant funding, and then attend the Demo Day to see equipment in action, ask questions, and make informed decisions on investment.

With grant support available on a range of livestock handling equipment, the event provides an ideal opportunity for farmers to assess practical solutions in a real working environment before committing to future purchases

The Demo Day represents a new direction for Clipex in the UK market, moving beyond traditional showground events and into a more practical, on-farm format.

Hosting the event in Doncaster allows farmers to see equipment working in a real environment, while also offering a central location accessible to those travelling from Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and the wider East Midlands.

Clipex plans to roll out further on-farm Demo Days across the UK throughout 2026, with the aim of reaching farmers in every region.

The brand will also be present at major agricultural shows this summer, including the Balmoral Show, NBA Beef Expo, Royal Highland Show, NMR Gold Cup Open Day, Royal Welsh Show, NSA Sheep Event, and APF Exhibition.

“We wanted to do something different from the traditional show circuit,” said Kevin Lernihan, Director of Clipex Europe.

“Farmers are practical people — they want to see equipment working in the kind of environment they actually farm in. Hosting this on a real working farm in Doncaster gives people the chance to see exactly what our sheep handler can do, ask questions, and make up their own minds.

“Alongside that, there’s a real shift happening around EID and data. Farmers aren’t just looking at handling anymore — they’re looking at how they capture and use information. Bringing that into the day, with an independent expert on hand, adds real value for anyone attending.

“With the FETF grants closing just before the event, it’s a great opportunity for farmers to secure funding and then come and see the equipment for themselves.

“It’s free to come along, and we’d love to see as many farmers there as possible.”
