Can you take on a 100k walk in the Yorkshire countryside for worthwhile causes?

The 100k Yorkshire challenge is a brand new exciting joint fundraising event for Blind Veterans UK and Guide Dogs. Blind Veterans UK supports vision-impaired ex-Service men and women and believes no one who has served our country should battle sight loss alone. The charity Guide Dogs provides life changing support to people living with sight loss through mobility training and the core Guide Dogs service. They believe that when someone loses their sight, they do not lose their freedom as well.

The 100k Yorkshire will start in the stunning Denby Dale, which is known for its pies, and will finish at the Blind Veterans UK Sheffield centre and Guide Dogs outreach centre. The walk will take participants over the green hills, rugged moors and small stone-walled villages of Yorkshire and the Peak District.

Registration for the 100k challenge is currently open with an early bird sign-up fee of £40 until December 31 2015. The charities are also offering the option to enter as a relay team for those not confident with the full 100k distance and there is an early bird discount at £80 for the whole team.

Anna Scalera, fundraising events manager at Blind Veterans UK, says: “This is an exciting new event in Yorkshire which will raise money for two brilliant charities. All you need to do is train hard and turn up on the day in your free event t-shirt. We will provide lunch, dinner and breakfast at three rest stops along with snacks, refreshments and encouragement!”
