Business community event in Doncaster raises hundreds for charity

Over 100 people came together to raise money for the Lighthouse Charity.

Plant-Fit Group and TC Harrison JCB joined forces on 16 October to host Beyond the Build, an event at Lake Y in Doncaster that brought together businesses, customers and suppliers from across the local area and construction industry.

For Plant-Fit, the event was about much more than plant and machinery. It was an opportunity to bring people together, strengthen existing relationships, create new connections and encourage local businesses to support one another.

Hayley Mayes, Business Development Manager at Plant-Fit Group, said: “At Plant-Fit, we’ve always believed that we are more than just plant hire. Our business is built on relationships and working closely with our customers and suppliers to support their businesses and help make their projects easier.

“Beyond the Build was about bringing people together away from the usual working environment, giving everyone the chance to catch up, meet new people and build relationships in a relaxed setting.”

Throughout the day, guests had the opportunity to network, try their hand at padel and enjoy demonstrations of the new JCB 3CX and Beta Tools.

The event brought a fun and social element to business networking, giving people the opportunity to spend time with existing contacts while making new connections across Doncaster's wider business and construction communities.

The team at Plant-Fit were blown away by the support for the event and the atmosphere created by everyone who attended.

Importantly, the day also had a charitable purpose, raising an incredible £640 for the Lighthouse Charity, which supports people within the construction community.

Hayley added: “We were genuinely blown away by how well the day went and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported us.

“Seeing people networking, having a go at padel, enjoying the demonstrations and simply spending time together was exactly what we wanted Beyond the Build to be about.

“To then raise £640 for the Lighthouse Charity made the day even more special. We work in an industry that is built on people, and supporting the construction community is something that is really important to us.”
