Emergency services were alerted to a blaze on Nutwell Lane, Old Cantley, at around 10pm yesterday.

A BMW had crashed and was alight in a ditch at the side of the road.

COURT: Dangerous driver led police through Doncaster villages

Firefighters extinguished the flames and the car was searched and found to be empty.

A police helicopter was scrambled but nobody from the vehicle was found.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Enquiries are on-going to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
