Broken down lorry causing heavy delays on M1 in South Yorkshire

A broken down lorry is causing heavy traffic jams for drivers on the M1 in South Yorkshire this afternoon.

The fully-laden truck has come to a standstill on the southbound carriageway between junctions 32 and 33.

Heavy tailbacks have been building up behind the vehicle with recovery teams in place to move it ahead of rush hour.

South Yorkshire Police Operational Support Services unit tweeted: "Fully laden HGV broken down M1 SB J33-J32. Heavy tailbacks. @bdv_control on scene hopefully clearing before peak."

BDV is the firm which has been brought in to move the lorry.
