A Highways Agency spokesman confirmed the A628 Woodhead Pass, near Sheffield and Barnsley, is currently closed in both directions between the A616 at Flouch in South Yorkshire and the A57 at Hollingworth, Greater Manchester until further notice.

They added: "Road users affected by these restrictions are advised to plan their journey in advance and consider alternative routes, if possible."

It was closed earlier today to high-sided and vulnerable vehicles as a result of the windy weather, but it is now closed to all vehicles.
