Boy, 15 and men, 69 and 38 latest arrests following South Yorkshire hotel riot

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A schoolboy is currently in police custody following recent disorder across South Yorkshire.
“The boy, aged 15, from Barnsley has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remains in police custody.

Hide Ad“We are continuing our investigation at pace to identify those involved in the mass unrest on Sunday 4 August.
Seven people have now charged in connection to the incidents and continue to appear before court.
Meanwhile, two men are also in police custody following the riot at the Holiday Inn Express at Manvers, Wath on Sunday afternoon.
The men from Barnsley, aged 69 and 38, have this morning (Tuesday 6 August) been arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting violent disorder in connection to the unrest outside the hotel.

Hide AdThe spokesperson said: “It is believed that a vehicle was used in the disorder to distribute weapons which were used to attack those on our frontline. The vehicle has also been seized by officers as enquiries continue.”
Police were pelted with planks, brick, beer cans and fireworks after violence erupted in shocking scenes outside the hotel.
12 police officers were injured in the disturbance, which also saw officers blasted with fire extinguishers.
Demonstrators also smashed windows at the hotel, forced their way into the premises and pushed a blazing wheelie bin against the building in an attempt to set it on fire.
