Knights had trailed 13-3 at half time with just a Dougie Flockhart penalty to show for their efforts.

But the second half was a different story as Doncaster capitalised on the slope and the gale-force wind and Flockhart, the Championship’s leading points scorer, kicked five more penalties without reply to complete a stunning comeback.

Rotherham Titans, Yorkshire Carnegie and Nottingham are among the sides to have come unstuck at Goldington Road this season.

But Clive Griffiths’ men are showing incredible spirit, togetherness and discipline as they continue to mount a genuine challenge for a play-off place.

At the halfway stage of the season, Doncaster are second in the table - just four points adrift of big-spending Bristol. From 11 league games, Knights have now won eight and lost three.

The top four qualify for the play-offs, with one promotion place to the Premiership up for grabs.
