Balby Road finally re-opened after Doncaster fire

Balby Road in Doncaster is open again in both directions today after safety work was completed at the scene of a fire.

Doncaster Council officials confirmed the road was back open last night, after the fire which had caused closures since Tuesday night.

A spokesman said: “Our Building Control team needed to organise scaffolding to support the gable ends of the property affected by the fire on Balby Road. The work is now complete and the road has reopened in both directions.”

Emergency services were called to the scene of the fire in Balby Road after fire broke out in a property on Tuesday afternoon.

Video footage from the scene had showed flames licking through the roof off a multi-storey property opposite Westfield Park.

Firefighters used an aerial platform to tackle the blaze which had sent a clearly visible large plume of smoke into the skies in the surrounding area.
