Attempt accosting of two young girls in Crowle

Crowle residents are on alert after the attempted accosting of two young girls in the town at the weekend.

The incident happened at around 1.30pm on Sunday, January 18, when a 13 and seven-year-old girl were approached as they walked along High Street.

A man driving a white Audi A3 is alleged to have stopped and asked the girls if they wanted a lift. Another man was said to be in the passenger seat.

The girls, who were unharmed during the incident, declined and walked away whilst the vehicle is said to have continued towards the town centre.

Both men are described as white, one was aged around 18-years-old and the other between 25 and 30 years of age.

Residents took to social media to voice their concern after the incident, on the Facebook group ‘In Crowle’, it was reported: “My 2 daughters have been approached by a car today and asked if they want to get in and go to McDonalds. The police have been informed and are investigating and treating it

as attempted abduction. Obviously they had the sense to run away, but this has happened in Crowle today.”

In response Elaine Hynes said: “Omg that’s awful.”

Helen Claire Rowing said: “Frightening !!”

“Very disturbing,” commented Tara Thompson.

Tina Rubie added: “Hope they catch these ‘Toe rags’.”
