125 people evacuated after fire breaks out at Doncaster Premier Inn

125 people had to be evacuated from a Doncaster town centre hotel this morning after fire broke out in a room.

Crews were called to the Premier Inn in High Fisher Gate at 6.30am following reports of a blaze in a third floor room.

Six fire engines were called to the incident with police and ambulances also in attendance as guests were led to safety.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service said: “Luckily, no one was seriously injured.”

The fire is now out but one fire engine remains at the scene.

Cordons were put in place around the hotel in Doncaster’s Market Place while crews dealt with the fire.

The extent of the damage is not yet known.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will now take place.

The chain has several hotels in Doncaster with the High Fishergate branch its biggest with 140 rooms.
