Looking back at yesteryear success of the annual Conisbrough Festival

In this week’s issue we take a look back at some of the musical highlights of this annual music fest.

It takes place this year from 11am to 10.30pm. There are two main stages, one dance tent, a kid’s area, a fun fair and a community zone.

Music genres include electronic, funky house, Indie, pop and Ska.

This year hopes to be the best yet and there will be around 30 bands appearing on stage with a host of DJs.

There is as always an emphasis on original performers with the lineup including headliners KKlass and Stafford Galli, whose comeback is after a hiatus of 25 years. They will perform their first album Phrygian Knights in its entirety.

Chief organiser, Steve Pugh said: “After the success of last year’s event we are continuing our commitment to support local talent by welcoming a host of local bands and DJs to play.

“We’re packing a lot of music into one day which should give our audience an experience similar to that of a mini Glastonbury Festival.”

Nominated by the Yorkshire Gig Guide and voted the best promoted festival in Yorkshire 2018, Steve said he hoped to retain that title.

In addition the Imperial Brewery in Mexborough has brewed two special beers for the occasion: Irish Landlord and Stout of your Mind in tribute to a song that will be sung at the festival.

There’s a wide variety of activity awaiting Conisbrough Music Festival revellers.

The event is designed to add to the vibrancy and engagement of the local community.

Last year’s festival attracted thousands of people. The popular festival will be held again at The Miners’ Welfare Field, Gardens Lane, Conisbrough on July 6.
