Broadband in Doncaster: Zen Internet brings a price promise and lightning speeds
Zen Internet’s independent research has shown that people see the monthly contract price, reliability and speed as the most important factors when choosing a new broadband provider.
Now, through Zen’s new service over the CityFibre network, the people of Doncaster have access to broadband which delivers on all three - and with that all-important price promise.
The research – conducted online by market researcher Opinion Matters throughout December 2023 - shows that two fifths questioned have experienced a mid-contract price rise within the last year. This left them angry (45%), frustrated (40%), and feeling deceived (25%).
Of the people questioned, over two in five (44%) are likely to consider switching broadband provider in the next year or when their contract is up for renewal - because they continue to feel angry, frustrated, and deceived by the mid-contract price rises imposed on them.
A contract price promise with Zen Internet
The findings of the survey come as many providers will be increasing their customer’s monthly bills this spring by adding the UK Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 4% plus an extra margin, which is usually around 3.9%.
Zen has been the UK’s only Which? recommended provider for three consecutive years - 2021, 2022 and 2023.
It offers a contract price promise, and so when someone signs up with Zen, the monthly fee will remain the same for the duration of the contract.
The Zen service, delivering full fibre broadband over the CityFibre network, will provide homes in Doncaster with a faster and more reliable service.
This is key, when reliability and speed are amongst people’s major factors when they’re choosing a broadband provider.
Zen has a commitment to eventually reach eight million homes in the UK through CityFibre’s £4bn network.
A guarantee that prices are fixed
David Barber is the Strategy Director at Zen Internet and he says that the next few years will be pivotal for connectivity in the home.
He says that by 2030 “everyone will have made the switch to full fibre”.
Barber points out that the people of Doncaster can get ahead of the curve by accessing full fibre now through CityFibre’s high quality infrastructure.
He says that at a time when households need to plan their monthly spend more than ever, that it is unfortunate “that our industry has a poor reputation for managing customer expectations and being transparent with communications”.
Barber says that many broadband providers entice customers to sign up with special offers, and then introduce mid-contract price rises further down the line.
However, he stresses that people in Doncaster “can benefit from access to Zen’s contract price promise, a guarantee that prices are fixed for the duration of a contract”.
Unlock the digital potential of your home
Full fibre broadband is a different type of internet connection than the UK has traditionally seen.
The copper wires that traditionally brought broadband were fine for phone calls, but when used for data could cause problems.
What happens with full fibre, is that fibre optic cables are used instead of the old-fashioned copper wires. This delivers a faster, more modern, and reliable connection.
Around 67% of the UK is currently served by full fibre, with speeds of up to 900Mbps.
Full fibre has the capability to unlock the potential of every smart device in the home, providing a solid platform for future-proofing a home’s connectivity requirements. It also has the capability to unlock any number of smart home applications and Internet of Things (IoT) devices of the future.
