Ian, 45, added: “It’s fantastic to receive this award. It’s totally unexpected as we only opened on January 8 last year and it’s unusual for relatively new pubs like ours to be given such an accolade.”
“We are a real drinkers’ pub and people can come here without the distractions of televisions or gaming machines. I suppose this went towards us getting the award, as did the fact that even when we stock guest beers from other brewers such as those from Great Heck Brewery, Shiny Brewery in Derby and Geeves Brewery in Barnsley. We keep the brews really well.”

Alison, 46, added: “We are really pleased at winning this award, which reflects the hard work we have put into the business over the past year.
“Because there are no distractions such as television people can come in and just join in any conversation, which creates a really friendly atmosphere.”
