Before 1841 the land was the site of a brick works and the lake is a result of the extraction of clay from the area. It was 1940 before it was officially opened as a park and until the 1970s there was a children’s train which ran through the park.

3. Litterpick
Alana Jones (standing,fourth from right), who works at McDonalds, Doncaster, organised a litter-pick at Sandall Park involving scouts from Barnby Dun and Edenthorpe and guides and brownies from Conisbrough in 1998.
