Pictures show how £130,000 miners memorial arrived in Doncaster and detail of the new monument

These pictures show how a £130,000 memorial to Doncaster’s mining industry arrived in the borough today.

The memorial was created after the Doncaster Free Press ran a year long campaign to help raise the money for the monument which will remember the coal industry and the collieries which were once a familiar sight on the Doncaster landscape, and those who working in the industry. We also show you what the early plans looked like.
