Seven more coronavirus deaths recorded in Doncaster

A further seven people who tested positive for coronavirus in the Doncaster area have died, NHS England confirmed.

It means 141 people being treated by the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have now died.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, Barnsley and Rotherham have registered one more fatality at their hospitals in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of hospital deaths to 108 and 133 respectively.

In Sheffield, 237 people have now died in hospital after a further two deaths were recorded across the same period.

The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics covering deaths involving coronavirus which happened up to May 1 and had been registered by May 9 revealed more than 300 people have now died at care homes across South Yorkshire.

Across England a further 207 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in the country’s hospitals to 24,159.
