Number of discharged coronavirus patients in Doncaster nears 500

The number of people successfully treated for coronavirus in Doncaster has reached nearly 500, health chiefs have confirmed.

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Mexborough’s Montagu Hospital and Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop, also said that it had gone nearly a month without a COVID-19 related death.

In a post on Facebook, a spokesman said: “Today we safely discharged our 496th patient, who has successfully battled and beaten Covid-19.

"We wish them the very best in their on going recovery.

"We're coming up to one month without a death related to the illness - just four more days to go.”

The Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals Trust area has seen a total of 250 coronavirus related deaths since the start of lockdown.

There are believed to be other numerous cases within care homes in the Doncaster area, making the actual total far higher.
