In a letter to parents, interim headteacher Jean Pickerill said: “We have had confirmation today that a student in Year 13 and a student in Year 12 have tested positive for Covid-19. The Year 13 student has not been in school since Tuesday 29 September.

"Following advice from Public Health England, we have been able to identify students who may have had close contact and we have asked them, as a precautionary measure to remain at home to self-isolate until Wednesday 14 October.

"All students involved must stay at home and should not go out into the community until their self-isolation period is over. The Year 12 student was already self-isolating and has not been in school since Monday 14 September so no further action is required at this time.

"We realise that this will come as concerning news for all involved, however, we have acted swiftly and are continuing to work closely with Public Health England.
