In a three-minute video message recorded in Urdu Hafiz Abdul Karim - who has already had the vaccine - appeals to fellow members of the Asian community not to miss the lifesaving jab.

Hafiz’s video - shared by Doncaster community health champion Healthwatch Doncaster - comes as data showed this month that in England white people were almost twice as likely to have the Covid jab than black, Asian and mixed ethnicity people among over-80s.

Meanwhile Asian celebs including comics Sanjeev Bhaskar and Romesh Ranganathan have starred in a TV advert debunking scaremongering myths surrounding the vaccine.

In one scene from the commercial Romesh Ranganathan tells viewers "There's no chip or tracker in the vaccine to keep watching where you go.”

"Your mobile phone actually does a much better job of that."
