Newly released NHS England figures reveal that the deaths were recorded by Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Teaching Hospitals Trust in the last 24 hours.

Earlier this week, the Trust – which runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Mexbrough’s Montagu Hospital and Worksop’s Bassetlaw Hospital, revealed it was caring for more than 110 patients with Covid-19.

It comes as the UK death toll now stands at more than 80,000.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged people to follow lockdown rules and stay at home as cases across the country soar.

Government ministers have also told people to act as if they have Covid-19 in a bid to reduce soaring rates.

Yesterday, Dr Rupert Suckling, Doncaster’s Director of Public Health, said Doncaster infection rates had risen to more than 300 per 100,000.
