Doncaster's highest daily coronavirus death toll is 'upsetting reminder,' say town health chiefs

Doncaster has recorded its highest single daily death toll from coronavirus, with 11 fatalities, bringing the total to 90.

Health chiefs say the statistic is ‘an upsetting reminder’ of the challenge – but added that a further five COVID-19 patients have been discharged.

A spokesman for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “Today, we safely discharged another five patients who are now at home and we wish them the very best.

“While we always try to share the positives, yesterday, sadly 11 people passed away at the Trust, the highest number we’ve ever had in a single day.

“This is an upsetting reminder of the challenge we face as well as the importance we all should place in adhering to Government advice and guidance to help limit the spread of Covid-19.

“As a Trust, we share our deepest sympathies with those who have lost loved ones and our thoughts are with you “
