Doncaster's first community coronavirus testing centre opens its doors

Doncaster’s first community coronavirus testing centre for people who do not have Covid-19 symptoms has opened.

The Springboard Centre in Hexthorpe is for all local Hexthorpe residents who are not showing symptoms of coronavirus but can be used to check people in the community.

The centre, which is located in Shadyside, is open from 7am – 7pm every day.

You do not need to book in advance – just walk up to the site. Users will need a face covering when coming into the test centre.

A Doncaster Council spokesman said: “This will be the first of a number of similar community testing sites across the borough over the coming weeks.”

In Doncaster, there have been nearly 650 coronavirus deaths since the start of the pandemic, while more than 1,500 people have successfully been treated in hospital.

More than 20,000 Doncaster people have already received a coronavirus vaccine with the figure set to reach 70,000 by mid February.
