Doncaster's coronavirus stats show death toll nearing 700

A further six people who tested positive for coronavirus in Doncaster have died, official figures show.

It means 690 people in the town have now died within 28 days of a positive test across all settings.

Eighteen deaths have been recorded in Doncaster in the last seven days, down 17 from the week before.

A further 82 new confirmed positive cases of the illness were reported in the town on Saturday, taking the total number of confirmed positive cases to 17,249.

It comes as the UK recorded 1,295 more deaths and another 41,346 cases on Saturday.

That brings the number of deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test to 88,590.

As of Friday, 3,514,385 people in the UK had received their first vaccination, with 424,327 patients now vaccinated twice, NHS England data shows.

The infection rate in Doncaster was 322 per 100,000 people in the seven days to 11 Jan. The average area in England had 476.
