Residents in Doncaster have been left without a post box during the coronavirus crisis after the area’s only letter box was fenced off inside roadworks abandoned during the lockdown.

The box on Livingstone Avenue, Clay Lane, is fenced off inside a compound where roadworks to improve the parking area in the street have been taking place.

But with the works halted because of the lockdown, residents are unable to access the box – which has not been sealed off.

It is not clear if collections are still being made by Royal Mail staff or whether locals have been managing to post letters inside it.

Residents face walks to nearby Wheatley Hills or Edenthorpe for the next nearest box.
