Doncaster no longer has any coronavirus patients in intensive care

There are currently no hospital patients with coronavirus who require intensive care treatment in Doncaster, the town’s hospital trust has confirmed.

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital, announced on social media just five patients are currently being treated for Covid-19 at the two sites.

A spokesperson said on Sunday evening: “We will begin next week caring for four Covid-19 positive patients at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, and just one at Bassetlaw Hospital. Thankfully, none of them currently require intensive care.

"Our colleagues are currently working hard bringing our services back to capacity, reviewing restrictions and preparing for the months ahead. Winter is just around the corner - it's our intention to be in the best place possible in order to meet the challenges which will come with the colder weather.”

Last week the trust said it has cared for 733 inpatients with coronavirus and discharged ‘almost 500’ of them.
