Doncaster MP joins ceremony to thank armed forces for their efforts during the pandemic

Doncaster MP and Deputy Speaker Dame Rosie Winterton recently joined in a flag raising ceremony during Armed Forces Week to say a special thank you to those who helped during the pandemic.

Since the pandemic began, military personnel have been tasked with supporting the vaccination role out, deploying defence medics to hospitals to relieve pressure on the NHS,

assisting in non-clinical roles, including porter duties to free up NHS staff, supporting local authorities with community testing and driving ambulances.

During the event, flags were raised by representatives from the Grenadier Guards, Scots Guards, Kings Troop RHA and Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, and parliament

signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant which commits the House of Commons to being a better employer to former military personnel.

Dame Rosie said: “It was an honour to be at the flag raising ceremony in parliament with representatives of the armed forces and to see parliament signing up to the Armed

Forces Covenant.”
