After Dominic Raab indicated that people would not be expected to go back to work until Wednesday, shadow business secretary Ed Miliband tweeted: "The PM didn't say workplace changes applied from Wednesday. He said 'And the first step is a change of emphasis that we hope that people will act on this week.' Wednesday was only mentioned in relation to other changes. Words matter. Clarity is essential. This is shambolic."

He was responding to Raab's words on BBC Breakfast this morning where the secretary of state sought to clarify the government's new coronavirus advice following the Prime Minister's speech yesterday.

Boris Johnson yesterday said those who cannot work from home should be ‘actively encouraged’ to go back to work. However, today Raab said that this should not happen until Wednesday.
