Doncaster coronavirus death toll rises for first time in one week

Doncaster’s coronavirus death toll has risen for the first time in seven days, the latest NHS England figures show.

One more fatality has been recorded by Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Trust, taking the total number of deaths at the trust since the pandemic hit to 230. That number does not include deaths in care homes or the wider community.

The trust runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary Hospital as well as Bassetlaw Hospital, Montagu Hospital in Mexborough and Retford Hospital.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, one more hospital patient who tested positive for Covid-19 has died in Rotherham, taking the hospital death toll there to 198.

It comes as a total of 13 coronavirus deaths were registered across England in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in the country to 29,173.

The patients were aged between 49 and 96 years old and all of them had known underlying health conditions.
