Since the outbreak of coronavirus, health professionals at the trust, which runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop – have been making preparations to ensure it is in the best position possible to care for the anticipated increase in Covid-19 patients who require care.
These preparations include standing down non-urgent and elective activity, redeploying staff and providing necessary training to enable staff to work in areas which are going to be extremely busy and under pressure, and physically moving some wards to better accommodate the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

“Colleagues are doing a tremendous job and adapting well to working in these unprecedented circumstances. It is important to say however, that their efforts will all be in vain if we don’t receive the support of our local communities during this challenging time.
“We are imploring the people of Doncaster and Worksop to adhere to the social distancing and isolation rules outlined by the Prime Minister to limit the spread of coronavirus and flatten the curve of infection, so that our hospitals can provide the appropriate care for those that need it.
“It is also important to note that if you need emergency care and treatment our services remain open and are safe to attend.”
