Coronavirus LIVE: ‘Healthy’ 13-year-old boy dies as Doncaster cases rise to 56

A 13-year-old ‘healthy’ boy who tested positive for coronavirus has died, as the number of confirmed cases in Doncaster rose to 56.

Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab, from Brixton in south London, died in King's College Hospital early on Monday. He is thought to be the youngest person to have died with the virus in the UK.

A spokesman for the trust said the boy's death had been referred to the coroner, but gave no further details.

It is understood he had no underlying health conditions.

As of 17:00 BST on Tuesday, the number of UK deaths was 1,789.

The latest figures saw a daily increase of 381 - the biggest rise so far.

In Doncaster there have been 56 confirmed cases – an increase of seven on the previous day’s figures – although the actual figure is thought to be far higher.

There have been two deaths in Doncaster.
