Together Tuesdays is a new community group set up by 24-year-old Emily Frost.

She started the group two weeks ago in the hopes of spreading knowledge from her own mental health journey.

“I experienced trauma and depression which made me hate myself and my life.

“I started to change my behaviour and see the sunlight.

“It made me want to share my experiences with others.”

Emily says that following the traditional path to doctors and medication did aid her but it was exercise, meditation, and yoga that helped her the most.

“I found going to the doctors and talking about my trauma to be really triggering,” she said.

“I needed a positive space which I think I have created in this new group.”

Together Tuesdays meet once a week and go on long walks where members can remain silent or open up about their mental health struggles.

Emily is also hosting live talk shows on the community Facebook group every week with a different topic of mental health being explored each time.

“Sometimes people with mental health issues think that they are being a burden if they talk about them out loud,” she said.

“I want to show them a different way to tackle their issues in a positive space.

“Not to use unhealthy coping mechanisms like drinking and how to cut out toxic people from their lives.”

Emily has also recently set up a children's group called Steady Sundays.

The group is free and focuses on teaching children about their emotions whilst playing.

“But we want to be a place where they can come if they feel like something is wrong.

“Somewhere they can get help from an adult outside of their household.”
