Sixth formers from Astrea Academy Woodfields, on Weston Road, Balby, picked them up during a ‘spring clean’ litter pick that they carried out, along with staff at the secondary school, at the end May, just before the half term holiday.
In just under an hour, which they spent picking litter along Weston Road and a handful of side streets, they collected 37 bin bags full of rubbish, as well as two Christmas trees, car parts and a suitcase full of old tools, said organisers, who added many local residents came out to speak to the students, to thank them for their efforts on behalf of the neighbourhood.

Hide AdJess Bain, head of sixth form at the school, said: “We encourage all students to make a positive contribution to the community and active citizenship is a really important aspect of life at Astrea Academy Woodfields Sixth Form.
"This is the second litter pick the students have completed this year - they take real pride in improving the neighbourhood and I am really impressed by how enthusiastically they threw themselves into the task.”
The previous litter pick, in April, shortly before schools broke up for Easter, collected 15 bags of soft drinks cans, plastic bottles and containers, crisp packets and sweet wrappers, again collected in the Weston Road area of Balby.
