Doncaster primary school judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted after rapid transformation

Rosedale Primary School has received a glowing Ofsted report, after a period of significant improvement and change.

In January 2020, inspectors graded the school as ‘Requires Improvement,’ and in April 2022 the School merged into Exceed Learning Partnership.

The report acknowledges the work that has been undertaken:

“It is a place of learning that provides a warm, welcoming and purposeful environment for all its pupils”

“Leaders have high expectations that all pupils can and will access the curriculum, including those with SEND. Staff make adaptations to enable this to happen.”

“Pupils form strong habits for learning from the start. In Nursery and Reception, children benefit from clear routines. They display high levels of concentration in their work and play. As pupils move into the main school, behaviour in lessons and around school is calm.”

“The teaching of early reading is clearly structured and delivered with precision. Leaders rigorously address the needs of any pupils at risk of falling behind.”

“In mathematics and science, there are well-sequenced curriculums which are appropriately resourced. The curriculums are broken down into small steps to meet the needs of the pupils at Rosedale.”

“The Trust has been pivotal in bringing about the much-needed improvements at the School. It is relentless in its pursuit to deliver a high quality of education for the pupils who attend Rosedale Primary School.”

The School’s Principal, Jack Wardle, praised the work undertaken by staff and pupils, and the support from the Trust, adding that the school had been on a “massive journey!” Throughout this time of change, leaders and governors have maintained their focus on the school reaching its potential and following their motto to ‘“Dare to Dream”.

Chair of Governors, Chris Lambert said “This outcome is a testament to the hard work of both the School and the Trust. Since joining Exceed, the School has been transformed, with investment made to provide the children and staff with the learning environment to succeed. The real transformation has been in the culture, ethos, sense of community and richness of experience we offer the children.
