Gala Tent has supplied vets, pharmacies, convenience stores, and some supermarkets to help ensure social distancing is maintained.

Beechwood Veterinary Hospital in Doncaster bought a gazebo to use as a makeshift consulting area for animals, which remain within sight of owners, rather than take them inside alone.

Gala managing director Jason Mace said the coronavirus pandemic was playing havoc with global buying patterns, but they would not give up.

He added: "I don't think any company will come out of this crisis unscathed, but we must remain positive and provide a service where we can. Giving up is not an option, creativity is required.

"If the government does shut the door on business, I have already informed staff they will be paid in full until this pandemic is over.”

Gala has also experienced an increase in enquiries from home workers.

Darren Perry, sales manager, said: “The applications the tents are being purchased for are quite varied, pork pie production, for example is one of my favourites, or a home judo centre.

“Others are digging out their old frames and giving them a new lease of life with fresh canopies. We're here to provide cover to anybody and anything.”

Founded in 1999, Gala Tent, of Farfield Park, Manvers, Wath-Upon-Dearne, Rotherham, sells more than 15,000 tents and marquees a year, along with 90,000 event accessories and furniture products in the UK.
