New Doncaster broadband will be 45 times faster

Connectivity provider TalkTalk is ramping up its full fibre expansion programme, bringing ultrafast packages with average top speeds of 506Mb/s to homes across Doncaster, for the first time.

Internet usage on TalkTalk’s network soared by an average of 39 per cent in Doncaster between January 2020 – April 2021 highlighting the need for fast, reliable and affordable connectivity in the town. There are no signs of this slowing down either, with many of us set to work from home until June and beyond. What’s more, with a summer of sports due to be broadcast, access to high-speed, dependable broadband will be an essential for many.

TalkTalk’s new Future Fibre packages – known as Fibre 150 and Fibre 500 – use the UK's latest fibre technology to bring residents in Doncaster 100% full fibre directly into the home. Jonathan Kini, Managing Director of TalkTalk Direct Business and Consumer, said: “We believe fast, affordable, full fibre broadband should be accessible to all. This has been brought into even sharper focus by culture changes resulting from the pandemic. We’re thrilled that people across Doncaster can now benefit from the UK’s latest fibre technology thanks to our new Future Fibre packages.”

The full fibre expansion across Doncaster is being undertaken in conjunction with CityFibre and Openreach to deliver the latest broadband technology to customers.

Natalie Ward, City Manager for CityFibre in Doncaster, said: “We are delighted to be working with TalkTalk to offer people the opportunity to access the full fibre network we have been building in Doncaster. We have made real strides in bringing state-of-the-art digital connectivity to homes since beginning our build and look forward to even more of the local community having access to fast and reliable digital connectivity in the near future. We have committed at least £25m of private investment to Doncaster and anticipate our citywide roll-out will be largely completed in 2022.”
