Michelle said: “We understand that lots of people will want to bring in their donations but we’re anxious that we will be overwhelmed on opening day.

“We only have space for a certain amount of donations so we’re asking for people to call us prior to dropping off items.

“Normally we would be snatching people's hands-off for donations but we have to put safety first.”

Across the country, 70 branches of Barnardos will be reopening out of their 724 shops.

“We will be adapting to the new government guidelines by introducing a one-way system and asking customers to stay two meters apart when shopping,” she continued.

“We will only have two members of staff working at once and we won’t be able to have our volunteers in.

“We ask that you are understanding during the changes and know that we are doing our best through a tough time.”

The Scawsby shop will be opening from 10am to 3pm to give staff members time to process donations in the back of the store.

Michelle said: “We will be holding a big sale when we reopen with items discounted to £3.

“We will still be providing the best customer service and want you to be able to come and grab a bargain.”
