Richard has always had a passion for food which comes from his mother who is Italian.

“I was always surrounded by food and it has been a huge part of my life,” Richard who is 29 and lives in Auckley said.

Fresh pastries will be on the menu.

“So there has always been a passion and an interest in the industry for me.

“But I got into coffee just a few years ago and I’ve had a bug for it ever since.”

Richard and his team will be making fresh food on site every day and will be selling ethically sourced high end coffee.

The menu will include sandwiches on artisan breads, freshly baked pastries and cakes, salads, tarts and galettes.

Richard hopes the coffee shop will be a place where people can reconnect after many months apart.

The cafe will have an industrial feel with steel decor and a European influence.

There will be a semi open kitchen which will allow customers to see their food being prepared.

“It’s warm and welcoming,” he continued.

“We can’t wait to get people in here.

“Our goal is to make people’s day.

“Cafe’s are more than just a rest stop now - they have become a place where friends and family can reconnect after months or even a year without seeing one another.”

Richard hopes that his new business will be able to provide a location for loved ones to reunite whilst enjoying quality coffee.

Cornerstone Cafe is part of Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s new expansion.

The park will also be opening retail shops alongside including a store selling sweets and one specialising in children’s clothes.

But customers do not need to buy a ticket to the park to enjoy the cafe.

Richard said: “We are feeling really positive about the opening.”
