How South Yorkshire Police are planning for potential coronavirus outbreak in Sheffield

With the number of confirmed cases in Britain rising daily, South Yorkshire Police said the force is ‘confident’ in its ‘preparedness’ for a major spread of the virus.
In a statement, the force said: “We have extensive plans in place for a range of scenarios. These are regularly exercised and staff are trained in moving to these plans at short notice.

“These plans have been considered in response to the emerging picture around coronavirus and we are confident in our preparedness and that of our partners.”
As of 9am yesterday, 319 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the UK, up from 273 at the same point on Sunday, and five people have died in British hospitals.
