A TRUE giant of the comedy scene is set to hit the big time in Doncaster tonight.

For towering funnyman Greg Davies - who stands at 6ft 8in tall - arrives at The Dome’s Icebreaker Comedy Club tonight for a show that’s set to have them rolling in the aisles.

The former teacher is best known for his roles as Greg in We Are Klang and as Mr Gilbert in smash hit Channel 4 show The Inbetweeners and also his regular appearances on panel shows such as Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You.

In 2002, he won the Laughing Horse New Act of The Year competition and in 2007 was nominated three times in the Chortle Awards and his first solo stand-up show Firing Cheeseballs At A Dog was nominated for the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Awards at the Edinburgh Festival. THE DOME: Children’s television favourite Thomas the Tank Engine rolls into town on May 14 and 15 for a fun family show featuring the little blue engine and all his pals from Sodor. There will be shows at 10.30am and 1.30pm on both days. Tickets are £12 children, £15 adults and £45 family. Tickets are available from the box office on 01302 370777.

AND they’re off at Doncaster Racecourse this weekend as Town Moor stages the first of three huge summer outdoor concerts.

Boy band sensations The Wanted take to the stage after racing on Saturday night - and the five-piece are set to make a few female hearts flutter when they step into the limelight.

Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes have become a big hit since bursting onto the scene last year with debut single All Time Low which hit the top spot.

Follow up singles Heart Vacancy and Gold Forever have also hit the top ten and the band’s self-titled debut album made number four.
