A Doncaster man is set to experience a taste of stardom by appearing in a new nationwide TV advert for Britain’s biggest bingo site, Tombola.
Michael Wilson, 29, was shortlisted from hundreds of players from around the country to make it through to the 2015 advert. Michael made his TV debut on August 24, when the new advert first aired across the UK.
The advert focuses on a group of genuine players and chat moderators enjoying bingo on their smartphones, in a fun and friendly environment. Michael has been an avid member of Tombola for over four years, and says that he saw the advert as a once in a lifetime opportunity, and applied for the part thinking his application would go no further.
“I really enjoyed the fun packed audition sessions, and I headed back home on the train hoping and praying that I would get through to star in the adverts. When the call came through to say that I had been successful I was absolutely delighted- I drove to work that day singing loudly in happiness to any song that played on the radio- other drivers must have thought I was mad.”
Michael also went on to explain how grateful he is that tombola have given him this rare chance to appear on TV: “My friends and family said they would never have the guts to put themselves forward for something like this and thought I was crazy at first – but now I have been selected the Hollywood jokes are coming in. It really was a once in a lifetime experience for me.”
Dawn-Elizabeth Howe, Head of Marketing, said: “We are really proud of our latest advert – it not only showcases tombola’s unique games but thanks to the players, the ads have real energy which we believe genuinely reflects the sense of community on Tombola.”
Hopeful tombola players entered online to take part in the TV ads.
