Meeting every Wednesday, apart from the first of each month, the choir has only been running since March but already boasts over 80 members.

They have performed to the public on more than 10 occasions, including the Doncaster town centre Christmas light switch on alongside Britain’s Got Talent star, Mark McMullen.

Other performance locations over the last nine months include Mansion House, The Wool Market and live on BBC Radio Sheffield in late December.

The singing company has valiantly raised money for ALK UK and MND, as well as helping out at other charity events.

Performances are completely optional to members, and signing up for the weekly sessions does not mean you have to take part in the city-wide events, you can just turn up and join in the fun.

One of the current members said: “A great night singing with lovely people, I always go home feeling happy.”

The group has a wide repertoire – with a huge range of songs through the decades to pick from.

From The Drifters to The Venga Boys, the members chose the songs so anything goes.

The Tuneless Choir is celebrating their first birthday in March and have lots planned for 2020, including ‘Musicals Night’, their first themed night of the year.

This event will take place on January 15, and will showcase known classics from hit musicals with the option for members to dress up as their favourite characters from the West End stage.

Singing has lots of physical and mental health benefits and can improve memory and good mental health, group singing also creates a great atmosphere to be in and is a lovely way to meet new people.

Another member added: “The group were friendly and welcomed my first session, it was good fun.”

You do not have to be able to sing tunefully to join the choir, anyone is welcome.

The weekly sessions take place at The White Church Hall in Balby.
