As schools are closed because of lockdown and many parents are working from home as well as juggling childcare responsibilities, families are already spending plenty of time together with virtual lessons providing at least some structure for youngsters.

1. Create a home cinema

2. Make your own notebooks
The Monkey Park community hub in Brampton, Chesterfield, is hosting a 'make your own notebooks' session on February 15. It is an online craft event hosted via Zoom, and all materials will be provided beforehand - these need to be collected from Monkey Park. The cost is £3.50 per child; an extra £2.50 buys an added snack box to enjoy while crafting, this includes a drink, cake or biscuit and fruit snack. 4. Make a perfect pancake
It's Shrove Tuesday on February 16, so families can crack some eggs and get flipping by making stacks of pancakes - experts have crunched the numbers to create an online calculator that generates recipes for the 'perfect pancake' in precise quantities.
