Proud parents Donna and Mick Riley had three reasons to be delighted - when all three children had lead roles in productions at the Civic Theatre.
Frankie Riley 17, and twins Dominic and Rachel, 13, of Royston Avenue, Bentley, who all attend Don Valley School and performing arts college, are keen members of the New Youth Theatre.
Frankie recently starred as Maria in West End favourite ‘West Side Story’, in her eighth show with NYT. Rachel played the beast in Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in her seventh show, whilst Dominic debuted in tear-jerker ‘Annie’ as Oliver Warbucks.
Mum Donna - who does not have a theatre background - admitted that she shed a tear during the shows.
All three spend around three hours a week at rehearsals. They are in separate groups at the theatre and all won their parts after auditioning. But while her younger siblings are still just enjoying acting as a hobby, Frankie is taking it seriously. She plans to go to university to study performing arts, and then have a year off in London for auditions. If this doesn’t work out, she plans to take a PGC teaching course in order to become a drama teacher. To join the New Youth Theatre, phone 01302 537737.
