Glory Dazed, Cast, Doncaster
Shameless actress Sally Carmen will be joined by Andrew Turner (Coronation Street), Paul Popplewell (Tyrannosaur) and Stacey Sampson (This is England ’88) in the script-in-hand presentation of new play Glory Dazed.
The show is being presented as part of the new writing programme Scripted. There will also be an additional scriptwriting masterclass with Doncaster-based playwright Richard Cameron, following the first session selling out in record time. The extra masterclass will take place at Cast on Wednesday from 6pm – 7.30pm.
Directed by Esther Richardson, Glory Dazed is a funny and sizzling new play by Cat Jones about the impact of war on returning soldiers to the town, originally developed with ex-servicemen and prisoners at HMP and YOI Doncaster.
Cast’s associate director Esther Richardson directed The Glee Club last September.
Cat Jones burst onto the national theatre scene in 2013, after a critically acclaimed run of Glory Dazed at Soho Theatre in London.
Right Up Our Street is proud to bring the play home as part of this special evening that offers an insight into Cat’s breathtaking talent and aims to inspire other local new writers.
Scripted is looking for pieces of no longer than 15 minutes that are ambitious and have a distinct voice.
A combined ticket for both these events can be bought for £5. Scripted is a new writing initiative which will include a season of masterclasses, script slams, readings and performances of the UK’s best new writing.
