Holy and Horny, Cast

This show is described as “a celebratory, inspirational, powerful, deeply moving and superbly acted one-woman show that celebrates women’s spirituality and sensuality”.

The play looks at one woman’s struggle to remain holy despite being as horny as hell!

All 20 characters are played by actress and author Tonya Joy

Bolton including Sheila, the frustrated Christian and her alter ego Eve, a sexually uninhibited poet.

Using comedy, mime, physical theatre, song and poetry as well as drama, the audience follows Sheila’s amazing journey as she embarks on a set of disastrous dates which lead to unexpected, even life-changing consequences.

As well as making you laugh, Holy and Horny may well make you weep too as Tonya brings to the stage an innovatory, no-holds-barred approach to concepts of race, gender, culture and sexuality and also tackles issues of sexual health and abuse.

Tonya’s own life reads like a movie packed with all sorts of adventures, trials and triumphs along the way.

She has overcome bullying, been homeless and suffered from domestic and sexual violence.

She also survived a traumatic house fire and went on to take part in a charity fire-walk.

Tonya, who is also an author and motivational speaker, enjoyed huge success with a sell-out tour of the show two years ago and it is back by popular demand, as they say.

The show is at Cast in Doncaster on Friday night.
