Doncaster Racecourse is getting ready to host musical legends Spandau Ballet following an afternoon of racing on Saturday, August 15.
The iconic super-group will entertain crowds at the Town Moor venue, South Yorkshire’s premier racecourse, after a packed seven race card.
The new romantic favourites, comprising of Tony Hadley, Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp, Steve Norman and John Keeble have sold over 25 million records and amassed 23 hit singles across the globe since they formed in the late 1970s.
They then took the world by storm on their comeback tour in 2009 and are known as one of Britain’s iconic bands.
Kieran Gallagher, executive director at the racecourse, said: “We are excited to welcome Spandau Ballet to our stage for what is set to be a fantastic day of racing and entertainment.
The event will be a real highlight of the summer, bringing to a climax a fantastic few months of music events here at the racecourse.
“Tickets are selling fast for the event so I’d recommend that people buy them in advance to avoid disappointment.”
The band will perform a selection of classic hits from their back catalogue, including UK number one single True and iconic song Gold, as well as a host of others from their eight UK top ten albums, which include numerous platinum sellers.
As part of the Music Live series, Doncaster Racecourse has already played host to the Human League, UB40, Madness and DJ’s Vernon Kay and Jo Whiley since May.
Gates open at 12pm with the first race getting underway at 2.05pm and the last at 5.25pm.
Spandau Ballet will take to the stage to perform shortly after racing.
Tickets for this summer afternoon of racing and the Spandau Ballet live performance are on sale priced from £35 per person.
