Doncaster’s Roots Music Club is preparing to welcome a multi-talented musician and TV presenter to its stage.
Donal O’Connor, a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer from Ravensdale, County Louth, Ireland, is performing at the club on Friday.
A show spokesman said: “Donal, son of the celebrated fiddler Gerry O’Connor and renowned singer Eithne Ní Uallacháin, has inherited a great musical legacy of at least five generations of fiddle playing and countless generations of traditional singing.
“Highly regarded as a fiddle player, the Irish Times calls him ‘immaculate’ ‘electrifying’ and “born out of naked talent and consummate professionalism’.”
Donal, a member of Belfast-based Irish traditional group At First Light, has presented on BBC Radio Ulster and Irish language TV station TG4.
He is performing at The Upper Room at Doncaster Brewery and Tap, Young Street, on Friday, October 16.
Tickets are priced from £8 in advance, from www.rootsmusicclub.co.uk or £10 on the door.
Doors open at 7.30pm and support comes from local folk/acoustic band Americanage with ‘music from some of the states they’ve been in’.
