Whether you're watching knights battling to the death, racing for cancer research, taking a sunset safari, or having a peek around local gardens, there's plenty to do in Doncaster this weekend...

Visit Town Fields in Doncaster this Sunday June 24 for the Race For Life 5K, where thousands of women of all ages will unite with one purpose; to walk, jog or run to raise valuable funds for Cancer Research. The 5K route will begin in front of Town Field Primary School at 11am, and takes a full lap around the perimeter of Town Fields, turning the town pink once again for this fantastic cause. The course is all on grass and is mostly flat, with the occasional slight incline and - as every year - an absolutely brilliant atmosphere. It’s £14.99 to enter for women, £10 for children, and free entry for boys and girls aged six and under.For those taking part, don’t forget to bring family and friends along to support you from the sidelines. 2) Medieval Knights and the Court of Conisbrough

As part of the 'It's Our Heritage - Conisbrough and Denaby Main' event this year, the castle will be opening its doors once again to the fantastic Escafeld Medieval Society for fighting and medieval mayhem. Entrance to all activities this Saturday June 23, which kick off at 11am and run until 4pm, will be free.

Join the team from YWT Potteric Carr Nature Reserve for an evening walk in the last of the sunshine hours this Sunday June 24, taking in the natural beauty of the wildlife of the reserve. Booking is essential for the walk, at the reserve on Mallard Way, from 7.30pm to 9pm, and costs £6 per person.

4) High School Musical Junior, Cast, Doncaster

The talented Juniors of New Youth Theatre Doncaster present High School Musical Junior this weekend. It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes all find their cliques. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. Running 7pm Saturday June 23, and 2pm Sunday June 24.

Spencer Wilding, Josh Herdman, Pam Rose, and Peter Roy are lined up to appear at Doncaster Unleashed this weekend, Doncaster’s Family Comic-Con. Traders will be selling comics, graphic novels, books, t-shirts, hats, apparel, toys, collectables, art, jewellery, props, autographs, and retro and new gaming. Entry on Sunday June 24 is from 11am and will run until 5pm.

6) Sunset Safari, Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Join YWP for an exclusive Sunset Safari this evening, Friday June 22, in aid of Hoofstock conservation projects - giving you exclusive access to witness ‘Into Africa!’ after hours. Take a walk across the reserve where you will join the knowledgeable Hoofstock team and learn more about the park's amazing African animals including Zebras, Camels, Giraffes and Rhinos. Make your way over to the lawns of Tsavo Lodge to enjoy a delicious BBQ. Here you will hear a talk from one of the rangers, who will share fascinating facts and information about the African animals, and you can try your hand at games and competitions. You’ll also get to learn about the amazing fieldwork funded by Yorkshire Wildlife Park Foundation to preserve and protect species across Africa.

7) Open Gardens for Charity, Whin Hill Road, Doncaster

Eight gardens will be open on both days, offering something different, from a compact plantsman garden, a wooded garden full of shrubs, and a mature garden with vegetables, to a terraced garden, a shaded garden, walled garden and a Japanese garden. You can pop by for 10 minutes or for eight hours across the two afternoons. There will be tea and cake too, so hopefully everyone will go home happy. Open this Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24, from 1pm to 5pm both days.
Details: Entry £4. You can buy tickets in advance at Walker’s Garden Centre, or on the day at any of the participating gardens in Whin Hill Road (DN4 7AE). Just look out for the event signs.

8) Welly Fest 2018, West End Lane, Doncaster

A two day festival -with music to suit all, kicking off this Friday June 22, from 6pm to 11pm, and running until Saturday June 23, from 11am-11pm. Sisters by Soul presenting ABBA Tribute Act, plus many more acts. The event offers people a perfect opportunity to raise funds for any charity or good cause, If you want to live dangerously, you can take part in Walking On Fire on the Saturday. There will be non-stop family entertainment, including many quality local bands and artists. Fairground, outside bar, food & craft stalls, bouncy castles and much more.
